Dikenal sebagai asam askorbat \/ asam dehidroaskorbat memiliki aktivitas sebagai vitamin. Tergolong vitamin larut air yang <span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\"><strong>mudah rusak oleh oksidasi terutama bila terkena panas<\/strong><\/span>. Oksidasi dipercepat dengan adanya besi \/ tembaga. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">Jadi, jangan minum vitamin ini di gelas tembaga atau besi ya.<\/span><\/span> Vitamin C cukup <span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\"><strong>stabil pada larutan asam<\/strong><\/span>, namun labil pada larutan alkali.<span id=\"dfef4f63-63e8-4d90-a1fb-a36a5e76b3be\" data-items=\"[&quot;2572273818&quot;]\" contenteditable=\"false\" data-has-children=\"true\" class=\"abt-citation\"><sup>\u200b1\u200b<\/sup><\/span> Karena sifatnya yang labil, maka sebagian banyak orang mengkonsumsi dalam bentuk suplemen, namun perlu diperhatikan konsumsi vitamin C yang aman sehingga berefek baik bagi kesehatan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Fungsi <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Dalam aksinya membantu berbagai vitamin yang lain, terutama vitamin B yang berfungsi untuk metabolisme tubuh. Selain itu vitamin C juga berperan dalam sebagai koenzim yang membantu kerja enzim di berbagai jalur.<span id=\"77963ecd-3b4f-4506-a5bf-904729890e4b\" data-items=\"[&quot;2572273818&quot;]\" contenteditable=\"false\" data-has-children=\"true\" class=\"abt-citation\"><sup>\u200b1\u200b<\/sup><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\"><strong>Sumber antioksidan<\/strong><\/span><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Vitamin C kehilangan elektron dengan mudah, yang merupakan sifat dari antioksidan. Di dalam tubuh, antioksidan melawan radikal bebas. Antioksidan dapat menetralkan radikal bebas dengan menyumbangkan satu atau dua elektron. Dalam sel dan cairan tubuh, vitamin C melindungi jaringan dari tekanan oksidasi radikal bebas sehingga dapat  berperan  dalam pencegahan penyakit. Di usus, vitamin C meningkatkan penyerapan zat besi dengan melindungi zat besi dari oksidasi. Selama sintesis kolagen, prolin atau lisin ditambahkan ke rantai protein, enzim menghidroksilasi, sehingga dapat membuat asam amino hidroksiprolin atau hidroksilisin. Serta berpartisipasi dalam konversi triptofan dan tirosin menjadi neurotransmitter serotonin dan norepinefrin. Vitamin C juga membantu dalam pembuatan hormon, termasuk tiroksin, yang mengatur laju metabolisme ketika metabolisme meningkat pada saat tekanan fisik ekstrem, maka penggunaan vitamin C dalam tubuh meningkat.<span id=\"3ce602a9-0b9b-40f6-9bcd-c053bcdf9e53\" data-items=\"[&quot;2572273818&quot;]\" contenteditable=\"false\" data-has-children=\"true\" class=\"abt-citation\"><sup>\u200b1\u200b<\/sup><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sumber <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Vitamin C berasal dari sumber nabati utamnya banyak terdapat pada <strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">buah dan sayur<\/span><\/strong>. Sumber vitamin C menyediakan perlindungan antioksidan setelah dikonsumsi. Namun, stabilitas vitamin C dalam makanan mudah dipengaruhi oleh oksigen, panas, pH, dan ion logam. Kebutuhan vitamin C ini dapat dipenuhi melalui konsumsi sayur sebanyak 3 porsi \/hari dan buah 2 porsi\/hari sesuai anjuran pada tumpeng gizi seimbang dan piring makanku. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Terdapat stres fisiologis  seperti infeksi, luka bakar, suhu yang sangat tinggi atau rendah, konsumsi logam berat beracun, penggunaan kronis obat-obatan tertentu (aspirin, barbiturat, kontrasepsi oral), merokok; yang dapat meningkatkan kebutuhan vitamin C.<span id=\"e8a336d3-f6d3-43e6-bd9e-57ea37969a35\" data-items=\"[&quot;2572273818&quot;]\" contenteditable=\"false\" data-has-children=\"true\" class=\"abt-citation\"><sup>\u200b1\u200b<\/sup><\/span> Sebagai contoh rekomendasi vitamin C untuk wanita perokok sebanyak 110 mg\/hari dan pria perokok 125 mg\/hari.  Saat konsumsi vitamin C sebesar 200 mg\/hari maka mulai terjadi penurunan absorbsi vitamin C pada tubuh. <strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">Batas maksimal konsumsi vitamin C per hari yaitu &lt; 2000 mg\/hari<\/span><\/strong>. Pencegahan infeksi profilaksis memerlukan konsumsi vitamin C  yang  memadai, jika  tingkat plasma tidak jenuh (100-200 mg \/ hari), yang mengoptimalkan tingkat sel dan jaringan. Sebaliknya, pengobatan infeksi yang sudah ada memerlukan dosis vitamin yang jauh lebih tinggi untuk mengimbangi peningkatan respons peradangan dan kebutuhan metabolisme.<span id=\"357f9036-76b6-4fbf-a75e-40a20b44a47c\" data-items=\"[&quot;3069654272&quot;]\" contenteditable=\"false\" data-has-children=\"true\" class=\"abt-citation\"><sup>\u200b4\u200b<\/sup><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Konsumsi Vitamin C yang Aman?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Studi<em> randomized control trial <\/em>selama 5 tahun menunjukkan bahwa suplementasi vitamin C dengan dosis 50 mg\/hari (dosis rendah) maupun 500 mg\/hari (dosis tinggi) secara signifikan mengurangi frekuensi flu biasa tetapi tidak memiliki efek yang jelas pada durasi atau keparahan flu biasa. Namun tidak ada perbedaan perubahan gejala flu antara dosis tinggi dan dosis rendah.<span id=\"9d6e5ff1-f608-4894-9c01-a6f6e3004e36\" data-items=\"[&quot;1558315275&quot;]\" contenteditable=\"false\" data-has-children=\"true\" class=\"abt-citation\"><sup>\u200b5\u200b<\/sup><\/span> Studi sistematic review menunjukkan vitamin C memiliki dampak minimal atau tidak sama sekali pada durasi flu biasa atau dalam jumlah hari di rumah atau di luar pekerjaan.<span id=\"2f990d4e-6e80-4ca8-937c-536735dde284\" data-items=\"[&quot;3430926422&quot;]\" contenteditable=\"false\" data-has-children=\"true\" class=\"abt-citation\"><sup>\u200b6\u200b<\/sup><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Di masa pandemi ini, banyak orang mengkonsumsi suplemen vitamin C. Namun, harus hati hati dengan konsumsi suplemen vitamin C dosis tinggi, pastikan konsumsi suplemen vitamin C dalam dosis aman karena memiliki  efek samping  seperti distress gastrointestinal dan diare. Orang yang mengalami penyakit ginjal, kecenderungan mengalami gout, atau kelainan genetik yang mengubah penguraian vitamin C menjadi produk ekskresinya cenderung membentuk batu ginjal jika mengonsumsi vitamin C dosis besar. Suplemen vitamin C dapat mempengaruhi orang yang kelebihan zat besi. Vitamin C meningkatkan penyerapan zat besi dan melepaskan zat besi dari simpanan tubuh; terlalu banyak zat besi bebas menyebabkan kerusakan seluler karena radikal bebas. Konsekuensi ini menggambarkan  vitamin C dapat bertindak sebagai prooksidan ketika asupannya melebihi kebutuhan tubuh.<span id=\"c983da57-4f28-4929-8b38-3329a7f7c5fa\" data-items=\"[&quot;2572273818&quot;]\" contenteditable=\"false\" data-has-children=\"true\" class=\"abt-citation\"><sup>\u200b1\u200b<\/sup><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Konsumsi vitamin C dari sumber makanan (alami) lebih baik dibanding suplemen. Asupan vitamin C 100 mg\/hari, kapasitas tubuh untuk memetabolisme vitamin C &nbsp;mengalami kejenuhan dan asupan &nbsp;yg lebih tinggi akan diekskresi lewat urin.
