Pangan yang mengandung karbohidrat sederhana biasanya memiliki indeks glikemik yang tinggi.<span id=\"7c9c9028-e369-4948-a9a8-de3624e56430\" data-items=\"[&quot;1765650502&quot;]\" contenteditable=\"false\" data-has-children=\"true\" class=\"abt-citation\"><sup>\u200b5\u200b<\/sup><\/span> &nbsp;<strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">Pangan dengan indeks glikemik tinggi lebih cepat dicerna sehingga lebih cepat menaikkan glukosa darah<\/span><\/strong>. Beban glikemik dikelompokkan menjadi tiga kategori, yaitu beban glikemik rendah (\u226410), beban glikemik sedang (11-19) dan beban glikemik tinggi (\u226520). Skor beban glikemik didapat dengan cara menggabungkan kandungan karbohidrat dalam gram per porsi dan skor indeks glikemik makanan.<span id=\"f66e4e3c-f10e-409c-8294-11225f2a2bd3\" lemak untuk memproduksi energi telah dipercaya dapat memperpanjang waktu mencapai kelelahan dengan kata lain terjadi peningkatan kapasitas <em>endurance<\/em>.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\"><strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">Pengaturan makan sebelum olahraga selain memperhatikan jumlah dan jenis &nbsp;karbohidrat juga perlu memerhatikan waktu pemberian<\/span><\/strong>. Beberapa penelitian menyebutkan bahwa <strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">pemberian makanan dengan indeks glikemik rendah \u22641 jam sebelum olahraga meskipun menghasilkan glukosa darah yang lebih besar selama olahraga tapi tidak menunjukkan perbedaan pada kapasitas <em>endurance<\/em><\/span><em>.<\/em><\/strong><span id=\"029c2f19-0adb-4298-bb02-156b74fd7c11\" data-items=\"[&quot;472351101&quot;]\" contenteditable=\"false\" data-has-children=\"true\" class=\"abt-citation\"><sup>\u200b9\u200b<\/sup><\/span> Sementara itu pemberian makanan rendah indeks glikemik \u22651 jam tapi kurang dari 3 jam sebelum latihan menghasilkan konsentrasi glukosa darah yang lebih besar selama latihan dan tinggi serum asam lemak bebas dibandingkan dengan makanan tinggi indek glikemik.
